The office of educational support services (ESS) within the department of athletics provides academic support and resources to varsity student-athletes. ESS employs academic advisors, a student-athlete development associate, and tutors to assist student-athletes throughout their time at GW.
Position Specific Summary
• Provides tutorial support for undergraduate and graduate student-athletes
• Follows all policies and procedures of ESS, NCAA, and GW
• Assists student-athletes in achieving a better understanding in a specific subject
• Organizes, facilitates, and tracks tutorial sessions
• Maintains communications with staff and coordinators
• Completes necessary paperwork for all tutoring sessions
• Leads small group sessions for exam reviews
Standard Position Description
The student will provide tutoring services for GW students or the DC community. Tasks may include: preparing tutoring lesson plans, teaching study skills, providing feedback on written papers or projects, tutoring in small groups, one-on-one, or virtually, providing supplemental education for courses and subject matters. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.
