I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director for Student Success, the Senior Student Program Associate provides strategic and operational leadership for the development, launch, and growth of innovative pathway programs that strengthen the transition from pre-college through undergraduate education. The Senior Student Program Associate provides strategic and operational leadership for academic pathway initiatives, bridge programs, summer academic experiences, and other innovative learning opportunities that strengthen the transition from pre-college through undergraduate education. Working collaboratively with faculty, academic departments, Enrollment Management, Student Success, Marketing and Communications, and other university partners, the position coordinates marketing, program operations, faculty engagement, and cross-functional implementation to support enrollment and student success.
Primary Responsibilities Academic Pathway Support- Support the marketing, promotion, and visibility of Academic Pathway programs in collaboration with program leaders, faculty, schools, colleges, and university partners.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of marketing and communication activities, including translating program information into clear, student-centered content, developing promotional materials and digital communications, coordinating outreach campaigns, and managing project timelines.
- Monitor and assess student interest, engagement, and participation, using available data to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts and inform future outreach strategies.
- Recruit, hire, train, and onboard residential staff and course assistants.
- Coordinate summer staffing plans, operational logistics, student communications, orientation programming (including Know Before You Go webinars), and all pre-arrival planning for students, faculty, and residential staff.
- Serve as the primary administrator of the Pre-College inbox, responding to prospective students, families, faculty, and partner inquiries while coordinating communications throughout the recruitment and enrollment cycle.
- Partner with Housing, Dining, Student Life, Public Safety, Conference Services, and academic departments to ensure operational readiness.
- Develop staff training materials, operational manuals, and program procedures.
- Coordinate the exchange of student data with partner offices involved in the onboarding and checklist process, including submitting tickets for completed checklist items.
- Coordinate the residential placement process, including student room assignments, accommodations, and move-in/move-out activities, while collaborating with Housing and other university partners to support students’ residential needs and overall program operations.
- Supervise residential staff and oversee daily summer academic and residential operations.
- Coordinate faculty, residential staff, and campus partners to ensure successful program delivery.
- Address student concerns, behavioral issues, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner while monitoring program quality and the overall student experience.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the George Washington University Police Department ( GWPD ) and complete all required incident reports and related documentation.
- Coordinate emergency response efforts and ensure appropriate follow-up for student health, safety, and behavioral incidents.
- Maintain on-call responsibilities during assigned shifts and respond to after-hours emergencies in accordance with university protocols.
- Strategic Partnerships
- Serve as the primary liaison among Academic Schools and Colleges, Enrollment Management, Student Success, Marketing and Communications, Academic Technologies, External Partners, and Faculty Leadership.
- Support the expansion of university-wide pathway initiatives and innovative academic programming.
- Monitor enrollment, participation, completion, and student learning outcomes; prepare reports for university leadership; and recommend pathway enhancements based on assessment findings.
- Evaluate student learning outcomes and prepare reports for university leadership.
Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. This position follows a hybrid work model, combining on-campus and remote work based on operational needs. During the summer, the incumbent must be available for evenings, weekends, rotating on-call duties, and schedule adjustments as needed to support program operations, student activities, and urgent operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Experience developing or managing pathway programs, bridge programs, pre-college initiatives, or summer academic programs.
- Experience collaborating with faculty on curriculum development and instructional design.
- Knowledge of enrollment management principles, student success strategies, and retention initiatives.
- Experience using CRM platforms (e.g., Slate), learning management systems, digital credentialing platforms, or similar higher education technologies.
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, or external partnerships.
- Demonstrated success leading institution-wide initiatives that advance enrollment, student success, or academic innovation.
