Job description

Student - Library Assistant

The student library assistant will provide customer service, under the supervision of the Library Public Services Manager, in the form of staffing the desk during scheduled shifts, answering phones, checking materials in and out, directing patrons to a librarian when necessary, answering basic informational questions, recording statistics, and performing basic troubleshooting of printers and copiers. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: We are looking for students who are focused on customer service, hold basic computer skills, have solid interpersonal communication skills, and are dependable. You may be asked to occasionally multitask.

Hours: Shifts can be as short as 1 hour or in longer blocks. Part of our process includes evaluating your availability vs. our open shifts. Student hours fall in between the hours of 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.
