PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Library Clerical/AR Aide is to help teachers and students effectively use the library facilities, materials, accelerated reader program, and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
TEA certification requirements
Every Student Success Act (ESSA) of 2015 for
Paraprofessionals that include one of the following:
โ€ข completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or
โ€ข obtained an associate's degree;
Ability to type
Basic knowledge of library materials and procedures
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
โ€ข Help maintain the effective operation of the accelerated reader program.
โ€ข Help supervise students using the accelerated reader program.
โ€ข Prepare reports generated by the accelerated reading system for teachers and others as requested.
โ€ข Type bibliographies, letters, purchase orders, requisitions, and routes correspondence as directed.
โ€ข Prepare new books for shelving and maintains all books and materials in good condition.
โ€ข Help maintain and update inventory.
โ€ข Help generate reports as requested by the librarian.
โ€ข Help maintain checklists of periodicals and book orders.
โ€ข Assist in making and submitting resource usage reports to the Library Services Department.
โ€ข Assist users in locating and using materials and equipment.
โ€ข Help shelve materials in library media center.
โ€ข Maintain files on materials, facilities, and personnel available from community sources.
โ€ข Communicate well with the library media specialist, teachers, and students to maintain an orderly atmosphere.
โ€ข Maintain and conduct minor repairs on materials and equipment.
โ€ข Help produce instructional media as directed.
โ€ข Assist with inventory and weeding procedures.
โ€ข Help maintain a clean and attractive appearance of the library media center.
โ€ข Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
โ€ข Performs other related duties as assigned.
