ANSONIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
JOB DESCRIPTION
KINDERGARTEN AIDE
Position Title: Kindergarten Aide
Location: Prendergast
Reports to: Building Administration.
Hours:  Position is 29.5 paid hours per week,
Monday through Friday when school is in session for students. Start and end times are set by building administration and may change.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have experience working in a school setting and preferably, with primary grade level students. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional credentials related to the education field are preferred. The successful candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, and staff, and be able to effectively communicate with a diverse student population.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 












  • Assist kindergarten teacher with classroom needs, working with young children
  • Assist with organization of classroom materials and supplies
  • Assist with preparing instructional materials for student activities
  • Work with young children in small groups
  • Respect the confidentiality of student information and not discuss them outside of the classroom
  • Organize and handout papers, crafts that go home with the students
  • Refer all parent concerns and questions about any student's progress to the teacher
  • Escort students from classroom to other classes such as Physical Education, Music, Art, Library
  • Other duties as assigned.
