Summary
The Faculty Development & Learning Innovation team is seeking a Library Assistant to join our team at the HCC Library. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to all users, upholding, and administering library and college policies, and working under the direction of the Circulation and Access Services Manager. The goal is to deliver an optimal library experience for users. This is an on-campus/non-telework position.
Essential Role Responsibilities
Circulation and User Services:
  • Assist users with checking-in, checking-out, and placing holds for library materials
  • Manage fines and fees accurately
  • Support the usage and reservation of study rooms
  • Monitor noise levels and guide users to appropriate areas
Information and Resource Management:
  • Utilize the library's catalog and databases to locate and retrieve books and resources
  • Shelve and edge material
  • Provide basic computer and technology assistance for printing, scanning, copying, saving, downloading, and uploading

Customer Service and Communication:
  • Answer user questions and direct them to Library and college campus resources/services
  • Resolve issues as they arise and communicate effectively with other staff and supervisors
  • Support colleagues and supervisors with various tasks


Operational Duties:
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education Required
High School or equivalent
Experience Required
Work Experience:
  • 1-year customer service
  • Previous work experience in a library setting, preferred

  • Attention to Detail -Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and ensures a high level of accuracy in all tasks
  • Organizational Skills -Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively

Physical Requirements:
  • Capable of standing for long periods of time

  • Proficient in answering phone calls professionally and efficiently
Availability:
  • Flexible availability to work during library hours, including weekends
