Position Overview:
The Communications Intern will support internal and external communications while assisting with key human resources functions. This role is ideal for an individual with an interest in agriculture who wants hands-on experience in training development, recruitment, onboarding, and content creation. The intern will help communicate company culture, support workforce growth, and contribute to HR operations in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Communications, Training & Marketing
  • Create, edit, and organize training videos and educational materials
  • Assist in developing marketing and recruitment content, including flyers, presentations, and digital media
  • Support internal communications that reflect company values, safety standards, and agricultural operations

Recruitment & Interviewing
  • Assist with job postings, resume screening, and candidate communications
  • Coordinate interviews and participate in interview processes as appropriate
  • Support recruitment efforts focused on attracting talent to agriculture, with an emphasis on swine-based roles

Onboarding & HR Administration
  • Assist with new hire paperwork and onboarding processes
  • Coordinate and track background checks and pre-employment screening
  • Organize and maintain employee files (digital and/or physical) in compliance with company policies
  • Support HR data entry and filing organization initiatives

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with HR and communications projects
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team

Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Communications, Human Resources, Agriculture, Marketing, Business, or a related field. Wil consider candidates that are not college students as well that are interested in summer employment.
Qualifications

  • Ability to utilize computer software and the Microsoft 365 Suite, Outlook, Canva, and other marketing creation tools.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
  • Comfort communicating with both office and field-based employees

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for up to 8 to 10 hours per day.

Work Environment
  • Schedule: Must work scheduled days and hours. This is a 12-week internship with full time hours (40-45 hours per week) available each week of the internship.
  • Environment: Primarily indoors, but some outdoor work. Nosie level is moderate.
  • Travel: Requirements are limited. May have to travel occasionally for meetings or to visit other farms.
