Position Location
This position will be located onsite in Gadsden, Alabama.
Job Overview
Perform Center wide repair in custodial, roads, and grounds areas in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
  • Apply sand to Center roads and pathways, and chip ice where hazardous.
    โ€ข Care for Center lawns to include fertilization, application of herbicides, mowing, watering, and establishment of new lawn areas.
    โ€ข Care for trees, to include: fertilization, pruning, watering, transplanting, and removal of hazardous or dead trees
    โ€ข Care for shrubs by fertilizing, pruning, watering, and application of wood chip mulch.
    โ€ข Collect and dispose of all litter, trash and debris on grounds, streets and parking lots. Sweep and clean exterior steps, entrances, landings and sidewalks.
    โ€ข Maintain property with appropriate equipment and materials.
    โ€ข Perform custodial duties including: floor care, clean and sanitize restrooms and work areas, vacuum, wash walls, windows and woodwork. Dust furniture and fixtures.
    โ€ข Maintain Center grounds and dumpster areas free of trash and litter.
    โ€ข Assist other maintenance staff with necessary maintenance Center buildings.
    โ€ข Support and promoted center zero tolerance policies.
    โ€ข Participate in student employability programs and activities.
    โ€ข Cultivate and maintain a climate on center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
    โ€ข Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, monitoring student skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed
    โ€ข Promote and cultivate positive customer service.
    โ€ข Performs all other duties as requested.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Academic and Career Technical Training permission

Preferred:
  • Grounds keeping experience.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center.
  • Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment.
  • Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property.
  • Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
