Position Summary: Student Nursing Aide

The Student Nursing Aide provides direct resident care under the delegation, direction, and supervision of a licensed nurse. This role allows nursing students to build clinical skills while supporting residents in a long-term care and rehabilitation setting.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain vital signs, pulse oximetry, and blood glucose readings
  • Assist residents with meals and activities of daily living
  • Perform simple dressing changes as delegated
  • Assist with ostomy care
  • Support restorative care, including ambulation and range-of-motion exercises
  • Perform peripheral venipuncture for laboratory testing
  • Apply oxygen via nasal cannula
  • Initiate and discontinue approved nebulizer treatments
  • Administer routine screening tests and immunizations as delegated
  • Accurately document resident care in the electronic medical record
  • Administer approved routine medications within Board of Nursing guidelines
  • Participate in quality assurance and resident care initiatives


Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an approved nursing program
  • Successfully completed:
  • Nursing Fundamentals
  • Pharmacology
  • Medication Administration
  • Able to provide documentation verifying completed coursework
  • Demonstrates competency within the Alabama Board of Nursing Student Nursing Aide guidelines
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, dependable, and passionate about caring for older adults
