Job Summary
The Center for Global Engagement at Columbus State University has an opening for an International Student Services Graduate Assistant. The individual in this position will work primarily with International Students but will also assist with front office activities and Study Abroad functions.
Responsibilities
Providing support to students who are receiving the International Student Service Scholarship, assisting with International Student Orientation, International Student events, coordinating and leading Global Dialogue sessions, planning and implementing various other programming along with providing front office administrative support. The International Student Services Graduate Assistant will also help with study abroad activities as well as other duties as assigned. The International Student Services Graduate Assistant will work with a variety of people and departments across the CSU campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Full time graduate student at Columbus State University (9 hours);
  • Meet all Graduate Assistant position requirements;
  • Have cross-cultural communication skills and an interest in working with domestic and international students;
  • Have leadership experience and/or the desire to develop this skill;
  • Be responsible, reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to new initiatives and priorities;
  • Possess public speaking skills;
  • Exude enthusiasm for cross cultural learning;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Outlook;
  • Ability to work independently and with a team;
  • Exceptional customer service skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Hold a valid Georgia driver's license;
  • Must attend training to drive CSU vehicles;
  • Be willing and able to drive a 10 passenger van.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Canva and Microsoft Publisher.
  • Candidate should have some knowledge/experience of other cultures either from personal experience, social interaction or from study abroad experiences.

Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience and education. A time commitment of 19 hours/week to the Center for Global Engagement, with set office hours every week. (The scheduling of hours is flexible based on class and work schedules.) Additional hours will be scheduled depending on weekly staffing needs (e.g., for information meetings, orientation sessions, other presentations).
