Job description

OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE: Student Engagement Ambassador
PAY RATE: $17.50 per hour, plus an opportunity for incentive bonuses
HOURS: Student communicators are required to work a minimum of three 3.5 hour shifts per week, but can work more if they would like. Calling shifts are held Sunday 3:30-6:45 PM, Monday- Thursday 5:30-8:45 PM, and Friday 1:30-4:45
LOCATION: MHC 303, St. Paul Campus

Student Engagement Ambassadors contact Alumni, Parents, and Friends of St. Thomas and ask for their support of the Tommie Fund. The Tommie Fund provides support for many things around campus including scholarships, student access and affordablity, financial aid, library resources, faculty recruitment and retention and classroom and laboratory equipment (to name a few). So, as you can see, Student Engagement Ambassadors play a very important role in improving campus for each St. Thomas student!
The office of University Advancement works hard to make the Engagement Center a great work environment. We are the ONLY student job on campus to offer performance based bonuses! We also offer awesome incentives for motivated callers and it is a great place to meet other students. (Plus, we offer free pop/soft drinks during your shifts!)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Contacting Alumni and Parents via telephone to help them stay connected with St. Thomas and ask for monetary support of the St. Thomas Annual Fund
  • Presenting a positive image of the University by being a reflection of the University's mission at all times
  • Contacting St. Thomas constituents via video messaging, direct mail, phone, text and additional channels

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be an undergraduate student at the time of starting
  • Students must be comfortable asking alumni and parents to give money in support of St. Thomas and must understand the need and importance of fund-raising at a non-profit institution
  • Students must be professional, articulate, detail-oriented, responsible, mature and able to act autonomously
  • Students must have a broad base of knowledge about the university in order to answer any questions that may arise on the phone
  • Students must work three 3.5 hours shifts per week and understand the majority of shifts are from 5:30pm-8:45pm

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
