POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator (Student Discipline) provides leadership and oversight for the administration and coordination of districtwide student discipline programs and processes to promote safe, orderly, and supportive learning environments. The position oversees the implementation and consistent application of federal and state laws, Board policies, administrative regulations, and district procedures related to student discipline and Title IX compliance. The Coordinator provides guidance and support to school leaders, ensures compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve student discipline matters effectively. This position requires the highest level of confidentiality, sound judgment, exceptional organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring timely follow-up.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in an educational-related ?eld required
- Master's degree preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Must have or be able to obtain a GA Leadership Certification or Support License within 12 months of hire
- Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or ability to attend off-site meetings
WORK EXPEREINCE:
- 3 years of supervisory experience in related ?eld required
- Principal experience preferred
- Mid to senior level experience in an urban educational setting preferred
- Experience in K12 education or public sector preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices related to student discipline, due process, and Title IX
- Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, student support services, and equitable disciplinary practices
- Ability to analyze complex issues, solve problems, and make sound decisions in collaboration with school and district teams
- Ability to provide consultation, technical assistance, and guidance to school leaders and staff
- Ability to develop, facilitate, and deliver professional learning for diverse audiences
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversees the implementation and consistent application of district policies, procedures, and protocols related to student discipline, student placement, and Title IX
- Coordinates and administers the student disciplinary hearing process, including notifications, hearing documentation, case preparation, hearing logistics, and recommendations in collaboration with school administrators and legal counsel
- Chairs and facilitates student behavior committees and the Behavior Code Committee to support consistent disciplinary practices and continuous policy improvement
- Coordinates student placements and referrals resulting from disciplinary hearings, alternative education programs, long-term suspensions, expulsions, and student transfers
- Prepares, analyzes, and submits district, state, and federal discipline reports, hearing summaries, and other required documentation
- Oversees the annual review, revision, and publication of the Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct
- Provides training and technical assistance to administrators, hearing officers, and school staff on student discipline procedures, due process, Title IX, and applicable laws and regulations
- Ensures district compliance with applicable federal and state laws, including the Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act (TAADRA)
- Serves as the district liaison for schools, alternative education programs, Juvenile Court, legal counsel, and other stakeholders on student discipline matters
- Supervises department staff; manages departmental operations, budget, and performance; researches emerging issues; and collaborates with district departments to promote equitable, legally compliant student discipline practices
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative
