Job description

Health Sciences High and Middle College, a charter school in San Diego, is looking to fill a position as a Middle School Support Provider. This position would be responsible for:
-Student support within the Middle School classroom setting.
-Front office support (eg. filing, data entry, copying)
-Work with the Middle School Team to create learning opportunities and provide resources to build enrichment opportunities.
-Mentor and support students to reach their academic goals.
-Supervise and monitor school lunch program
-Provide classroom coverage for content area teachers as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.
This position is a contracted position with an 186 day calendar. The hours will be determined.

Job Purpose:
To provide academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and general support to high school students, promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment. The Student Support Specialist collaborates with staff, families, and community partners to help remove barriers to student success and ensure every student feels supported and empowered.
Education-Based Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field (required)
โ€ข Prior experience working with youth in a school or community-based setting (preferred)
โ€ข CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
โ€ข Bilingual skills (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:
โ€ข Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with diverse students and families
โ€ข Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
โ€ข Understanding of adolescent development and trauma-informed practices
