Job description

Parsons Student Assistants will work collaboratively in the Parsons Graduate Admission Department responding to and cataloging general inquiries, maintaining digital records, preparing recruitment materials for events, engaging with graduate students in the ZeeMee social app, and performing various administrative tasks. The incumbent will serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries directed to Parsons from internal and external stakeholders. Parsons Student Assistants report directly to an Assistant or Associate Director of Admission.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who can work independently, but is also a team player. The ideal candidate for this position is a graduate student who is interested in leveraging their own prospective student experience and working on a small team with a focus on fielding inquiries from prospective Parsons Graduate students. Experience in admissions, office administration and customer service is a plus. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at The New School; students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply. Strong writing skills are essential. Applicants will be asked to complete a brief writing assignment during the application process.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Monitoring Parsons recruitment inbox inquiries and fielding replies
โ€ข Drafting email response templates for commonly asked questions
โ€ข Responding to graduate admission inquiries in the ZeeMee social app
โ€ข Provide administrative support to Parsons Admission Directors
โ€ข Assist with admission and recruitment event preparations
โ€ข Additional project-based tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills
โ€ข Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
โ€ข Ability to work independently and expediently with limited hands-on supervision
โ€ข Ability to demonstrate discretion in handling confidential applicant information
โ€ข Ability to perform multiple tasks with effective time management and prioritization
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Customer service experience
โ€ข Administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting
โ€ข Strong understanding of the Parsons student experience and programming
โ€ข Availability to work 10-15 hours weekly
Hourly Rate: $17/hr
Work Mode: Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice.
