Description
The Department of Economics is looking for a Student Assistant who will provide administrative support to the department. In addition to performing miscellaneous clerical duties, the Student Assistant will be required to answer phones and greet visitors to the office, taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary. S/he will also be required to assist with various department projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist incoming visitors.
  • Answer a wide variety of questions related to the department's procedures and other general questions (training will be provided).
  • General clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, shredding, sending faxes, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with a heavy volume of phones, taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary.
  • Ability to design and maintain a web page:
    • Maintain Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blog, and website presence.
  • Assist with creating print and digital materials for programs and initiatives.
  • Collecting various types of department data and organizing them in an Excel file.
  • Assisting the department leadership with various office-related tasks.
  • Helping the faculty and program coordinator to organize various departmental events.
  • Perform other such duties and responsibilities that may be assigned occasionally.
