Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient. Assists with activities to assist the patient in meeting basic human needs including but not limited to nutrition, hydration, mobility, comfort, elimination, socialization, rest, and hygiene. Collects, reports and documents simple data. The Student Nurse Assistant functions within policies, procedures and guidelines of SMH in accordance with the CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Currently matriculating in an accredited Nursing Program
  • Successful completion of one semester of Nursing Clinical with expected graduation as a RN within 1-2 years
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care,
  • Good organizational skills
  • Personal maturity, accuracy and flexibility

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • N/A

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required;
  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program
  • Completion of at least one clinical rotation

License/Certification:

  • BLS competent
