Position Overview:

This position works cooperatively with leadership of the congregation that owns the school (if any), LUMIN's Board of Directors, school staff, parents and students to help the school accomplish its mission of nurturing and equipping all children in a strong Christian and academic environment to become lifelong learners, growing in faith, capable of making responsible decisions, and serving God and the community. The Director of Student Services is charged with creating dynamic, systematic school systems that foster successful outcomes for students as well as the cultivation of future Christian leaders in our communities. Reporting to the Chief Schools Officer, this person will collaborate with members of the Education Team to train and develop strong leadership teams at the school level across the organization to actualize and codify the LUMIN school culture vision. Additionally, this person will assist with the development and implementation of multi-tiered support systems to meet the needs of all learners throughout our organization. The ideal candidate is a spiritual leader with a strong commitment to providing access and opportunity to an equitable education. This person knows how to influence and invest leaders in research based effective school practices, and can design and facilitate trainings that build critical mindsets and tangible skill sets. As a member of the Education Team, this person is responsible for the implementation of the LUMIN model so that schools achieve a high level of success.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaboratively Design and Implement LUMIN’s Approach to Tier II Services:

  • Define and ensure the implementation of a LUMINwide Tier II MTSS system
  • Serve as the lead for network partnerships, who provide services to our scholars
  • Strengthen and codify networkwide attendance, enrollment, and chronic absenteeism data, resources and tools to disseminate to and across the network
  • Support vision, goals and key outcomes for networkwide implementation of LUMIN MTSS
  • Implement, manage and maintain networkwide social and emotional learning education and resources.
  • In alignment to current Tier I curriculum and practices, use data to plan and implement networkwide academic and behavioral systems of support for students with various needs
  • Work with outside partners in matching speciality areas with internal areas of need
  • Institute a system of interventions that can be amplified in response to levels of need
  • Establish networkwide data cycles and guide key stakeholders in the process of collection, analysis, action planning and continual assessment
  • Support school leaders in identifying a schoolwide approach to expectations and supports
  • Provide venues and pathways for authentic, proactive and responsive parent involvement
  • Develop Effective Practices:
  • Design and lead highquality professional development sessions for participants
  • Establish a collaborative and teambased decision making process to determine which students need interventions
  • Strategically work to retain and advance current and future leaders within the network through direct development and/or leveraging the support of others
  • Provide On-the-Ground Support to Strengthen Outcomes for Students:
  • Collaborate with school leadership teams on their beginningoftheyear culture and MTSS launch
  • Build the capacity of school leaders to manage change at their school sites; this includes systems oversight, teacher skill building and data driven action planning
  • Design and deliver school trainings to teachers and leaders across the organization
  • Provide onsite coaching to schools, as needed
  • Maintain active involvement and administration of practices
  • Attend and cofacilitate community meetings with families, staff and other stakeholders
  • In collaboration with outside partners and stakeholders, coordinate aligned and responsive programming that provides access and opportunity to socialemotional learning, restorative, trauma informed care, cultural responsive and proactive disciplinary practices
  • Other duties:
  • Follow Christianbased philosophy and principles, plan, prepare and oversee the prescribed curriculum for the grade and/or subject areas(s) he or she is teaching.
  • Implement, execute, and measure academic success through assessment suite at the network, school and classroom level.

  • Assist with the ongoing review and improvement of processes and procedures related to the network. Align and coach on established teaching protocols and programs to ensure consistency among all schools.
  • Work cooperatively and interact positively with students, parents, staff and community.
  • High presence and availability to all students, faculty and parents.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner with a diverse population of children, youth and adults.
  • Possess the ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Experience working in an urban school environment, including general knowledge of issues facing atrisk youth, is desired.
  • Belief that all students can learn and their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control. Belief that student learning guides practice and decisionmaking throughout the school and system.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other disciplines in problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate and work in multiple settings and environments.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license
  • Eligible for a Wisconsin Director of Pupil Services administrative license preferred.
  • Graduate degree or license certification in educational leadership or related area preferred
  • Previous administration experience preferred
  • K12 classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Working conditions:
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, depending on work tasks.
  • Work will be performed in a school environment.
  • Willingness to travel between campuses in Milwaukee and Racine
  • Salary: $80,00 and up for years of experience, advanced degrees, w/ ability to make more as you grow.
