Position Summary
The Student Assistant for Stevenson University's Exhibitions Program will work directly with the Exhibitions Director & Gallery Curator to develop and promote exhibitions and associated events. The Assistant will assist with the planning, design, production, and installation of innovative exhibitions and cultural programs. In addition, the Assistant will assist with designing promotional materials as well as developing marketing and communication strategies to support and promote the exhibitions and events.
Education/Experience
Currently enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing academically and judicially. School of Design major preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
Ability or experience in exhibition installation, such as the use of hand and power tools, large-format printing, vinyl plotting and weeding, art handling, etc.
Some college coursework in art, design, photography, and traditional and digital communications, including social media.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail is essential.
Ability to follow and accept direction and instructions.
Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks.
Must be able to represent the best of Stevenson University.
Physical Requirements
Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Will be working on computers doing design work, data entry, etc. The worker is subject to activities that occur inside and outside. Position requires coordinating gallery set-up and break-down, close visual acuity, such as computer work, and working on all campuses. Position may require some evening hours and weekend work.
Essential Functions
Assist with exhibition production, art handling, and installation.
Assist with coordinating and developing cultural programs in multiple venues on campus.
Design promotional materials, including flyers, postcards, posters, and catalogs, for exhibitions and events.
Assist with digital marketing and communications strategies to promote exhibitions and events. Posts regularly on SU website, social media, and other digital channels.
Photograph, document, and catalog exhibitions and events.
Assist with cataloguing, tracking, and updating University Permanent Art Collection
Work with faculty to assist with development and production of exhibitions and events.
