Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Work in conjunction with Academic Resource Center team to promote student success through the various resources provided to students, faculty, and staff during the day hours and evening hours as the Alumni Building Host.
This job will be available for the 26-27 academic year.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide student support in the various resources (ex. Academic Coaching, Testing, Accommodations, Tutoring and Study Groups) as directed by the Student Engagement Director, or Academic Resource Center Office Manager.
  • Assist students with questions and locating faculty offices and other locations in the Alumni Building
  • Actively promote the Academic Resource Center to students, faculty, staff, and parents
  • Assist patrons seeking help and direction particularly in the main office
  • Conduct tours of the Academic Resource Center to visitors and First-year Seminar classes
  • Represent the Academic Resource Center during BJU Up Close
  • Provide supervision in the Alumni Building during the day and in the evening hours as the Alumni Building Host

o Assist students and visitors with questions about the evening activities and classroom usage
o Lock and close the 3rd floor on nights when the floor is not needed for student meetings
o Provide a back-up for the graduate student working the Testing Center
o Close the building at the end of the evening
  • Complete any other tasks assigned by the Academic Resource Center staff

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
    • Second semester freshman or above
  • Christlike character demonstrated by a desire to serve others, teachability, and a strong work ethic
  • Effective working skills demonstrated by good communication skills, good organizational skills, the ability to handle routine clerical duties, a willingness to learn new skills, self-motivation, and initiative
  • Effective people skills demonstrated by friendliness, physical and emotional energy, an attitude of servant-leadership, and a spirit of helpfulness
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
