Job description

STS Packaging, a Schwarz Partners, L.P. affiliate company is currently seeking a Quality & Finishing Packer in Mooresville, IN. The Finishing Packer reports to the Shift Supervisor. The Quality & Finishing Packer is responsible for inspecting product for quality, ensuring product is properly glued, and packing finished product into cases.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Ensures materials are staged and ready to go to maintain uptime and quick loads of pallets.
  • Safely supports forming and gluing operations.
  • Monitor quality, remove loose scrap and sort if required by the operator.
  • Accurately packs product into master cases and sends to taping and palletization.
  • Ensures master cases are available and staged to support continuous run.
  • Feeding requires lifting product, pre-breaking blanks and placing into feed hopper accurately and safely.
  • Packer performs basic quality controls, ensuring product is converted to specification before packing into cartons.
  • Relieve other packers and feeders for breaks and lunch.
  • Assist with labeling, repacking and other duties as needed.
  • Quickly raises major issues to supervisor.
  • Follow 5S standards according to visual aids in the department.
  • Other duties related to day-to-day issues that may arise, as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Ability to work overtime as the job requires.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor for resolution.
  • Adheres to all safety policies, including always wearing required PPE, and sets an example to others for model safety behavior.
  • Reports any major quality or food safety issues to Supervisor.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School degree or GED.

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.):
  • Knowledge of how to perform basic quality checks.
  • Must follow Safety/GMP/PPE guidelines.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Take direction from Shift Supervisor.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Read and understand instructions and job information.
  • Desire to accept additional responsibility and learn new tasks.
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Fluent in English required.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Constant standing, walking, talking, hearing; occasional sitting; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision. The position also requires the ability to stand 90% of shift and lift up to 45 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available.

  • Tools required for the job: Steel toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and hair nets.
