Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology/Telemetry position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years of current acute care experience in the specialty.

Details
  • Work on a Med/Surg Oncology/Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital setting
  • Care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Treat soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Manage patients with symptom progression related to disease treatment and associated comorbidities
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Utilizes B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), scheduled per 4-week review periods based on staffing needs
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, current within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience accessing and managing ports
  • Arterial line management experience
  • Blood product administration experience
  • Central line and PICC line care/management experience
  • IV start and IV therapy/phlebotomy skills
  • Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
  • High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP/CPAP management skills
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
  • Tracheostomy care/management skills
  • PCA and insulin drip titration experience preferred
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
  • Provide oncology and telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and symptom management
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is welcomed for this specialty
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this location
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
