Job Position: Voice & Data Technician
Location: Austin, TX 78704
Pay Rate: $20 $35/hr
TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Voice & Data Technicians for commercial low-voltage projects across the Austin area. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in commercial environments.
Responsibilities
Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, conduit, and cable tray systems.
Build and organize MDF/IDF rooms, racks, patch panels, cable management, and network equipment.
Label, test, and certify structured cabling installations.
Read blueprints, floor plans, and low-voltage drawings.
Perform cable certification using Fluke testers or similar testing equipment.
Troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
Maintain clean, organized, and code-compliant installations.
Qualifications
2+ years of commercial structured cabling experience preferred.
Experience with copper and fiber installations and terminations.
Knowledge of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards.
Experience terminating RJ45 connectors, keystone jacks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
Experience with Fluke testers, cable analyzers, fusion splicers, or OTDR equipment is a plus.
Ability to work from ladders and lifts.
Valid driver's license required.
