Job description

Estimator – Structured Cabling / Technology Systems


📍 Arlington TX


An established and highly respected engineering contractor is looking to add an experienced Structured Cabling/Technology Systems Estimator to its growing team in Irving, TX.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in low voltage and structured cabling estimating who enjoys working on large-scale commercial construction projects including mission critical facilities, healthcare, manufacturing and commercial office developments.


Responsibilities


  • Prepare detailed estimates for structured cabling and technology systems projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications and RFPs.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and labor calculations.
  • Develop RFIs where required.
  • Source pricing from manufacturers and distributors.
  • Produce detailed scopes of work and project documentation.
  • Identify scope gaps and value engineering opportunities.
  • Design structured cabling systems when required.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys as needed.
  • Prepare submittals and change orders.
  • Provide a smooth handover to project operations.

Project Experience

Experience estimating projects including:

  • Data Centers (Hyperscale, Colocation & Enterprise)
  • Commercial Office Buildings
  • Manufacturing Facilities
  • Healthcare (Hospitals & Medical Office Buildings)

Typical project values range from $1M to $5M+.


Requirements


  • 10+ years of experience estimating structured cabling/technology systems.
  • Strong knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards.
  • RCDD certification highly preferred.
  • Additional BICSI certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturers such as CommScope, Panduit or similar.
  • Ability to produce conceptual budgets and detailed cost estimates.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Audio Visual, Security Systems or field installation experience would be advantageous.
