Job Summary
Gibson Electric Co., Inc. ("Gibson") provides a wide range of commercial electrical construction, maintenance, repair and retrofit, voice/data, and network and structured cabling service within the Chicago metropolitan area of Illinois.
Our breadth of electrical and telecommunications services can meet the needs of customers no matter what market segment they are involved in-with special attention paid to completing projects on time and on budget.
From mission critical and sustainability projects to riser management, prefabrication, and more Gibson Electric's proven expertise, ISO 9001:2015 certification, comprehensive CAD department, pre-construction division, RCDD-qualified network designers, and Building Industry Consulting Service International- (BICSI) certified installers help ensure clients get first-rate service.
Notably, we are the only Chicagoland electrical contractor to be ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and production of 2D and 3D electrical drawings for field installations and coordination with other sub-contractor trades.
  • Reads architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical floor plans, sections and elevations.
  • Creates accurate 3D representations of all electrical components to be used in coordination.
  • Participates in coordination meetings to resolve clashes while maintaining budget, constructability, and NEC code requirements.
  • Confers with engineer of record and project management staff to revolve problems and explain drawings to production or construction teams and providing adjustments as necessary.
  • Produces shop drawings, cross-sections of underground, conduits and cables and other electrical systems as required for instructions to fabrication and installation crew.
  • Travel to various project sites as required.
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures and safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Job Specifications
  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a BIM related role
  • Experience proficient in using Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Navisworks.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or other model viewing/collaboration software preferred.
  • Understanding of all facets of construction including the ability to understand drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in 3D coordination.
  • Understanding of basic computer skills (ex. folder structure, emails & attachments, keyboard shortcuts).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.

Accountability and Measurement
  • Partner with others in the department or on the job site to ensure accurate drawings are created.

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

Compensation Range: $74-90K based on qualifications and experience
