About the Role:
A Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of various low voltage systems in commercial and industrial construction environments. This role requires a well-rounded technician with experience across multiple systems including structured cabling, audio visual, security, access control, fire alarm, and burglar alarm systems. Technicians must be comfortable working independently or as part of a team while maintaining high quality workmanship and safety standards.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Install and configure access control systems including card readers, door hardware, request to exit devices, and control panels.
  • Install and service CCTV systems including cameras, NVRs, DVRs, and video management platforms.
  • Install and wire fire alarm devices including smoke detectors, pull stations, horn strobes, annunciators, and fire alarm panels.
  • Install burglar alarm and intrusion detection systems including motion detectors, contacts, and alarm panels.
  • Install and mount AV equipment including displays, speakers, projectors, control systems, and conference room components.
  • Run and terminate low voltage cabling including security wire, composite cable, and control wire.
  • Perform head end work including panel terminations, rack build outs, and equipment configuration.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and system layouts.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, programming, and device communication issues across multiple systems.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, IT teams, and other trades as needed.
  • Label, dress, and organize cabling according to project standards.
  • Follow all OSHA safety requirements and applicable code regulations including NFPA where required.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms as needed.
  • Experience across multiple low voltage systems is required. Industry certifications such as NICET, BICSI, manufacturer panel certifications, or security platform certifications are a strong plus.
Required Qualifications:
  • Reliable transportation and ability to report to the jobsite on time daily.
  • Valid driver’s license if required for the role.
  • Full PPE including hard hat, safety vest, steel toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Basic hand tools and trade specific tools as required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to take direction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Ability to work in secure or badge access environments.
