Job Description

Eramosa Engineering, A CIMA+ Owned Company, is a progressive and growing company specializing in the delivery of critical infrastructure in our communities.ย  Our team has a focus in municipal water / wastewater, electrical utilities, and renewable energy sectors as well as strategic pursuits in transit, transportation and mining. With over 25 years of experience spanning across all of our locations, we provide Electrical Engineering, System Integration, IT/OT, IoT services, and consulting to our client base across North America.

We are currently looking for an Intermediate to Senior Telecom Engineer to take our service offerings to the electrical utility sector in Ontario. The role will have a strong focus around telecommunication and IT/OT services within the Operational Technology (OT) environment through engineered designs, implementation of networks, cybersecurity, and consulting.ย  The role also comes with the opportunity for significant growth within the organization as the team expands. if you have a demonstrated background in the IT/OT space with a growth mindset we have a technical leadership opportunity for you.

This role can be based either in our Guelph or Mississauga office, on hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight through the managing, planning, and organizing work with technical team members in the delivery of IT/OT project deliverable requirements, including scope, fee, schedule, quality, health and safety, risk management, and change management plans.
  • Work closely with project managers for the successful completion of projects on time, on schedule, and on budget.
  • Leverage your experience to analyze the clientโ€™s needs and recommend solutions.
  • Design telecommunication and networking solutions in line with the clientโ€™s needs including cabling infrastructure, fibre optic, microwave, wireless, LAN/WAN and firewalling.
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices in line with industry norms such as NERC CIP, NIST, and ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Review existing network architectures and recommend solutions as needed
  • Clearly and comprehensively document the architecture and solutions implemented.
  • Prepare detailed design of IP networking infrastructure and servers, including the preparation of plans and specifications for cabling, enclosures, and other network needs.
  • Actively participate in the configuration, installation and implementation of IP networks and server infrastructures.
  • Work as part of a team with multidisciplinary team environments in preparing conceptual and detailed communication/network design drawings, specifications and reports, contract documents, and, approvals applications.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with existing and new clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as Engineering or Computer Science
  • License to practice Engineering in Ontario (P.Eng designation or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 12+ย yearsโ€™ experience
  • 2 years + in a technical lead role considered an asset
  • Experience in industrial OT networking in the electrical utility sector an asset
  • Previous experience at a Consulting Engineering firm considered an asset
  • Active networking and cybersecurity certifications with Cisco, or other recognized industry standard certifications (CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, CISSP) considered an asset.
  • Active structured cabling certifications with BICSI (RCDD), or other recognized industry standard considered an asset.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge and design experience with multiple networking aspects from transport layer (copper/fibre/wireless/cellular), LANs, WANs, VLANs, server virtualization, servers, cloud systems, routing protocols, firewalls, DMZs, IT/OT convergence, and cybersecurity is critical for the role such that you can act as a key person on projects.
  • Experience in multiple telecom technologies such as:
    • Optical transport system (DWDM, MPLS-TP, IP/MPLS, SONET/SDH),
    • Wireless transport system (Microwave, Satellite)
    • Tele-protection, Power Line Carrier (PLC), High Voltage Entrance (HVE)
    • Radio access systems (WiMAX, LTE, Wi-Fi, LMR)
    • Control and Automation systems: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), SCADA, IEC 61850
    • IT/OT convergence including firewalls.
    • Telecom Power System.
  • Supporting proposal development including estimating and quotation through formal and informal processes.
  • Experience working on telecoms projects within a consulting engineering group focused on utilities projects
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding of industrial networks, protocols, and practices considered an asset
  • Knowledge in areas such as SCADA, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SEL Real Time Automation Controllers (RTACs), industrial network protocols (such as IEC 61850, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DNP3, MQTT, OPC) is an asset.
