Job description

Senior Estimator

Location: Near Portland, OR (100% in office plus occasional local site visits)

Salary: $140,000 - $170,000


We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a growing and highly respected commercial construction contractor specializing in federal, public works, civil infrastructure, utility, renovation, and structural concrete projects throughout the West Coast and Hawaii.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned estimator who wants more than simply producing bids. The ideal candidate will take ownership of estimating processes, drive bid strategy, and play a key role in shaping the future of the preconstruction function.


Key Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final bid estimates

• Lead estimating efforts for federal, public works, civil, utility, renovation, and structural concrete projects

• Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and procurement documents

• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis

• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals

• Support bid strategy, risk assessments, and value engineering efforts

• Manage bid tracking, estimating workflows, and process improvements

• Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams

• Support proposal development and project turnover activities


Qualifications

• Experience with hard-bid and design-build projects

• Strong GC background estimating public works, commercial, federal construction, civil infrastructure, utilities, and/or structural concrete projects

• Proficiency with Excel and On-Screen Takeoff

• Strong understanding of construction means and methods

• Ability to lead estimating processes and drive operational improvements
