JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications toย determineย the dimensions and materialsย requiredย for structural framing systems.ย 

  • Select, cut, and weld steel components to fabricate or repair structural parts, using various welding techniques and metalworking tools.ย 

  • Erect, install, and connect steel beams, girders, and columns to form building frameworks or other structures.ย 

  • Inspect and test welds and structures to ensure they meet safety regulations and structural design specifications.ย 

  • Rig steel components for lifting by cranes and guide their positioning and alignment during installation.ย 

  • Operate fabricating machines such as shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.ย 

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other construction professionals toย modifyย designs and troubleshoot issues on the construction site.ย 

  • Maintain equipment and tools in good workingย condition, performing regular maintenance as needed.ย 

  • Follow safety protocols and wearย appropriate personalย protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injuries and accidents on the job site.ย 

  • Coordinate with construction management teams and other trade workers to ensureย timelyย progression of building projects.ย 

  • Use leveling and surveying equipment to ensure structures areย erectedย plumb and level.ย 

  • Perform cutting, bending, and threading of pipes and structural steel.ย 

  • Keepย accurateย records of materials used, hours worked, and activitiesย 

  • High school diploma or equivalentย 

  • Vocational training or apprenticeship in welding or structural steelwork preferredย 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and erectionย 

  • Proficient in welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural design drawingsย 

  • Familiarity with structural steel materials and their propertiesย 

  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and OSHA regulationsย 

  • Competency in operating cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery used in steel constructionย 

  • Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and stand forย long periodsย 

  • Precise hand-eye coordination and dexterity for handling tools and materialsย 

  • Good communicationย and teamwork skills to coordinate with other trades and project team membersย 

  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditionsย 

  • Problem-solving skills to address challenges during constructionย 

  • Attention to detail for quality assurance and controlย 

  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by project deadlinesย 

  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportationย
