JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Structural Steel Welder / Fabricator (MIG / GMAW)
LOCATION: Orion Township, MI
JOB TYPE: Full-Time
JOB SUMMARY
We are hiring a skilled Structural Steel Welder / Fabricator to support production in a fast-paced fabrication shop. This role involves MIG / GMAW welding, blueprint reading, and metal fabrication for custom equipment and structural components. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform welding and fabrication using MIG / GMAW processes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Measure, cut, and fit materials to specifications
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters, torches, shears, and ironworkers
  • Inspect welds to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Use overhead cranes, rigging, and forklifts safely
  • Assist with assembly, testing, and shipment preparation

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of experience in welding and structural steel fabrication
  • Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) welding
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings
  • Experience with hand tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Strong knowledge of shop safety practices
  • High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED
  • AWS Welding Certification
  • Experience with custom fabrication or machinery

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Fabrication shop with moderate to high noise levels
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and industrial equipment
