About the Job:
GPI is seeking a full-time Structural Engineering Project Manager for our New England branch based in our Wilmington, MA, or Boston, MA, office. GPI offers flexible work schedules with the ability to split time between working in the office and from home. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for career growth as the selected candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities and the ability to influence the success of our people and projects.
This position is to project management of structural design projects in New England, focusing on MassDOT projects. We are currently designing multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structures. We have new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, including structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and dams. With a strong backlog and a long history of positive client relationships, the opportunity for growth is significant.
Required Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage all aspects of bridge design and rehabilitation projects.
  • Independently coordinate the work of engineers and balance the project delivery team throughout the entire project's development.
  • Established client relations
  • Be integrated with marketing and proposal development, contractual matters, design, and production meetings.
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with staff from other technical disciplines
  • Coordinate workload throughout project development and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Track and manage project budgets.
  • Mentor staff

Preferred Responsibilities:
  • Lead routine bridge inspections for state and local agencies.
  • Manage and review load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies.
  • Oversee and review bridge hydrology and hydraulics analyses.

Qualifications:
  • 8 to 20+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering is required
  • PE licensure required in MA
  • Experience with state DOTs, transportation agencies, and municipalities in New England
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (preferred)
  • NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (preferred)
  • MassDOT experience preferred

Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
