Job description

We are a well-respected and established Steel Sub-contractor based in the greater New York Metropolitan area. We are looking for a steel estimator to join our office located in midtown Manhattan. Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in estimating and a proven track record of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple bids. You’ll be working directly with our head estimator.

Some of the experience we are looking for is:

· Minimum 2 years structural & miscellaneous steel estimating experience; 4+ years preferred

· New York City experience required

· Strong ability to interpret architectural & structural design drawings

· Capable of producing take-offs based off of these drawings

Daily Roles & Responsibilities:

· Generate budget estimates based off architectural, structural drawings

· Quantify all aspects of a bid from material cost, detailing hours, fabrication etc.

· Co-ordinate with general contractors, sub-contractors, detailers, our shop etc. from the initial bid stage until the completion of a project

· Build great working relationships with partners such as general contractors, detailers, suppliers etc.

· Creating multiple proposals simultaneously while meeting deadlines

· Working with the project managers handling change orders & cost impact

· Occasional site walk-throughs with the general contractors

The standard working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. However, some overtime will be required occasionally to meet deadlines.
