Our growing Infrastructure team in Calgary is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Western Canada. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys leading structural design, mentoring team members, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable infrastructure that strengthens communities.

Our projects include water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, equipment storage buildings, administration buildings, laboratories, and other critical municipal infrastructure. You'll work alongside a diverse team of engineers and specialists, providing integrated solutions from planning and design through construction.

We have an established national structural team dedicated to the water and wastewater facilities. You will work with this team to help accomplish business goals in Calgary region, but also to aid with project in other regions as well.

We offer a flexible hybrid work model that includes flexible hours, working from home, and collaboration from our Calgary office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Conduct structural condition assessments, site investigations, inspections, and evaluations for new and existing infrastructure.
  • Develop practical solutions for the rehabilitation, retrofit, and remediation of concrete and steel structures.
  • Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, and engineering fees to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout all project phases.
  • Review construction activities, respond to site inquiries, and ensure compliance with contract documents and engineering standards.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or have the ability to apply for the designation
  • 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably focused on municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience designing reinforced concrete, structural steel, and masonry structures for industrial or municipal facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, structural design standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience on multidisciplinary projects and mentoring junior staff.
  • Excellent communication, client relationship, and contract management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
