Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Structural Engineering Intermediate professional for a contract/temporary opportunity supporting architectural and design services projects in Coraopolis, PA. This role is ideal for an EIT-certified civil or structural engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience who is ready to contribute to structural analysis, design development, calculations, and coordination with multidisciplinary project teams.
As a Structural Engineering Intermediate, you will work closely with Structural Leads, Structural Engineers, Designers, and other technical disciplines to help deliver accurate, code-compliant structural solutions. This is a collaborative environment where developing engineers are encouraged to take ownership, ask questions, strengthen technical judgment, and grow through hands-on project responsibility. The team values quality, clear communication, accountability, and continuous learning, making this a strong opportunity for professionals looking to advance their structural engineering career.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform conventional structural engineering analysis and design under general supervision.
- Support development of structural design concepts, calculations, models, and design documents.
- Apply building code requirements related to lateral analysis and design, including wind and seismic provisions.
- Coordinate with Structural Leads, engineers, designers, and other disciplines to communicate structural requirements clearly.
- Review and check engineering calculations, including your own work and the work of other engineers.
- Manage assigned scope, workload, schedule commitments, quality requirements, and potential scope changes.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Perform structural analysis and design for building and industrial facility projects.
- Develop structural calculations, design documentation, and model coordination requirements.
- Apply IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC standards to steel, concrete, wind, and seismic design.
- Support quality control through calculation checking, self-review, and coordination with senior engineers.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Engineer in Training, EIT, certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience, with 3 to 5 years preferred for this intermediate-level role.
- Experience with United States building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
- Developing knowledge of lateral analysis and structural design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, leads, and cross-functional project teams.
- High attention to detail, quality control, accuracy, and schedule ownership.
- Ability to perform field walks when needed, including climbing ladders, crawling under raised access floors, or walking and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with structural engineering analysis software such as STAAD.
- Experience using Navisworks and Bluebeam.
- Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
- Experience with semiconductor industrial facilities or general industrial facilities.
