Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has openings for dynamic Interns in our growing Canadian group. You will be part of our Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, hydro and dams and materials disciplines. This is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects. 

This job covers all civil engineering teams within KIE. Candidates will be placed on discipline-specific teams based on candidate's interest and KIE staffing needs.

Location

The location for this Internship will be Burnaby, BC. 

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Discipline Leads and Engineers:

  • Support civil/structural/roadway/hydro and dam engineering projects in the pursuit, design, or construction stage by:
    • Producing design calculations and analyses
    • Participating in the development of design deliverables, including collaborating with engineers and designers/drafters
  • Support the development of the multidisciplinary engineering team by:
    • Developing internal design tools and standards with our engineers
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related degree
  • Be available for full-time work for a 4-8-month internship period (starting September 2026) and returning to full-time studies afterwards
  •  Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • 2nd year of studies completed prior to internship start date

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done 
  • Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines

Base Compensation: $22.00/hr - $27.00/hr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
