Job description

We're looking for an experienced and licensedย Structural Engineer (PE)ย in California to join our team and lead the design of residential, multifamily, and commercial building projects.ย  In this role, you'll provide technical expertise, solve complex design challenges, and manage project phases from concept through construction.

ย What You'll Bring:

  • PE license (SE preferred)
  • Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience in wood design for wood frame and wood shear walls of Multifamily and Single-family homes/buildings
  • Proficiency in engineering software, CAD, and Revit
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise to Director of Engineering and/or client to ensure projects comply with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves field and/or design issues.
  • Performs complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Makes design recommendations and/or adaptations.
  • Assists in development of contract deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and general notes.
  • Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and /or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Is familiar with project budgets and timelines and apprises Director of Engineering of potential or anticipated changes in scope.
  • Attend site visits through design and construction.
  • Assists in coordinating project schedules and timely completion of projects.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Proficiency in the use of the codes, Structural engineering software, CAD and Revit.
  • Proficiency in structural design of wood buildings.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs as needed
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete calculations for the structural design of new residential, commercial, industrial, and other projects as well as the renovation of existing structures.
  • Ability to formulate creative approaches to challenges and problems encountered.
  • Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Work independently as well as be part of a collaborative team.

Education and experience:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in civil or structural engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required. (SE) preferred.
