Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join our growing Brea, California office. This is a highly technical, project-focused role for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading complex structural design efforts while remaining actively engaged in engineering and project execution. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of structural systems for a variety of industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and healthcare facilities. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives on solving technical challenges, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a trusted technical resource for project teams and clients.

While the role does not include direct people management responsibilities, the Senior Structural Engineer will provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers while maintaining ownership of project deliverables from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead structural engineering design and analysis for industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and healthcare facilities.
  • Perform detailed structural calculations and system design for steel, concrete, and other structural systems.
  • Take full ownership of structural design efforts from schematic design through construction support.
  • Support and coordinate HCAI-regulated healthcare projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and agency requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drafters through technical guidance, design reviews, and constructability discussions.
  • Spend approximately 50-70% of time performing hands-on structural design, analysis, and calculations.
  • Coordinate directly with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in project meetings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities.
  • Conduct occasional site visits and field investigations (approximately 10% travel).
  • Review and coordinate structural drawings developed in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Utilize Bluebeam extensively for document review, markups, quality control, and coordination.
  • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for complex structural engineering challenges.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
  • Strong experience designing industrial, manufacturing, and commercial facilities..
  • Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software, including:
    • RAM
    • RISA
    • ENERCALC
    • Excel and/or Mathcad
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design of steel and concrete structures.
  • Strong technical writing, drawing review, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently while serving as a trusted client-facing engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience producing and coordinating construction documents through all project phases.
  • Familiarity with California Building Code and applicable healthcare facility design requirements.
  • Experience working directly with HCAI reviewers and healthcare project stakeholders.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized engineering projects.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience within architecture and engineering environments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $140000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
