Job description

Lead the Future of Structural Engineering at BSI

BSI Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Manager to lead our growing Structural team and help shape the future of our engineering practice. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys balancing technical engineering excellence with people leadership. As Structural Engineering Manager, you'll guide a team of engineers, oversee diverse industrial projects, and play a key role in developing talent, driving innovation, and advancing the capabilities of our Structural discipline.

What makes this opportunity unique is the variety and complexity of the work. Our team designs structural systems for industrial facilities across specialty chemicals, renewable chemicals, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and aviation industries. In addition to traditional steel and concrete design, BSI's Structural team is actively involved in advanced structural analysis, facility modifications, equipment support structures, foundation design, and innovative solutions utilizing Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) systems and emerging materials.

As a leader within the organization, you'll help champion new technologies, design approaches, and continuous improvement initiatives while working alongside multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges. You'll have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, mentor future engineering leaders, strengthen client relationships, and help expand the capabilities of a growing employee-owned company.

If you're looking for an opportunity to lead a talented team, remain technically engaged, and drive innovation in industrial structural engineering, we'd love to talk with you.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of structural engineers and designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Provide technical leadership for the design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and specialty structural systems supporting industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Guide the successful execution of structural projects by balancing technical quality, project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and clients, helping develop practical, cost-effective solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Oversee structural designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Champion innovation within the Structural discipline through the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, engineering tools, design methodologies, and advanced analytical techniques.
  • Support the continued growth of BSI's structural capabilities, including specialized applications such as Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) systems, facility modifications, equipment support structures, and industrial infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and architectural professionals to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Participate in field investigations, facility assessments, and construction support activities to ensure designs align with real-world operating conditions.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, succession planning, and employee development while helping shape the future of the Structural Engineering team.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, and business partners, contributing to repeat business opportunities and long-term partnerships.
  • Review, approve, and seal engineering deliverables as required while maintaining BSI's commitment to technical excellence and quality.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

At BSI, structural engineers aren't limited to repetitive building design projects. Our teams work on technically challenging industrial facilities where creative problem-solving and innovation are valued.

  • Lead the design of complex structural systems for industrial manufacturing and processing facilities.
  • Apply advanced analysis techniques to solve unique client challenges.
  • Work with emerging materials and technologies, including Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) systems.
