Job description

Position Title: CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION
Location: HOUSTON, TX (CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS)
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: TEAM LEAD – DATA CENTER DESIGN

Position Summary: The Civil/Structural Engineer will come with expertise in power plant construction, particularly in concrete and steel structural works. This role will focus on the engineering and execution of civil and structural systems critical to large-scale power generation projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee design and construction, and ensure all works meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform the civil and structural engineering scope of power generation projects, including natural gas engine and turbine facilities.
  • Design of foundations, piling, concrete structures, and structural steel systems.
  • Review and validate engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for accuracy and compliance.
    Provide field engineering support/solutions during site preparation, erection, and commissioning activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, local building regulations).
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, EPC contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for resolving complex civil/structural challenges during project execution.

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering for power plants, heavy industrial, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in concrete and steel design, geotechnical engineering, and structural analysis.
  • Proven track record managing and supporting large construction projects.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA, STAAD & Foundation software , Autodesk Products).
  • Knowledge of EPC construction practices and project delivery models.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent highly preferred
  • Experience with foundations for heavy rotating equipment (engines, turbines, generators).
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and construction regulations for energy projects.
