Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in our Newton, MA Office. The Senior Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in overseeing various projects as project manager; the technical mentorship of local staff; supporting business development efforts; delivering consistent technical quality, successful project delivery, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood structures in the markets and clients LiRo-Hill serves.
  • Serve as Project Manager on a variety of project types/sizes, overseeing project staffing, financial management, and client communications.
  • Lead site investigations to observe and document existing conditions and document structural deficiencies.
  • Supervise and assist in the development of project plans, design calculations, specifications and lead the coordination with other design disciplines as required to deliver high quality engineering services.
  • Oversee the construction administration phase of projects through the performance of site visits and provision of responses and solutions to issues.
  • Utilize a broad assortment of technical and project management skills on projects that range from small rehabilitation projects to large scale new construction. 
  • Support the mentorship, training, and development of junior engineering staff.
  • Support the preparation of technical proposals in the pursuit of new work.
  • Attend meetings and site visits with clients as a representative of the firm.
  • Actively participate in local industry organizations and business development functions.
  • Support the development and improvement of the department’s technical standards.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and project financial performance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s Degree a plus
  • 7+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering
  • MA PE required
  • Strong mentorship skills
  • Ability to manage projects, clients, and delegate tasks
  • Understanding and application of code requirements
  • Experience in using various structural analysis software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience a plus
