About this Role

NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer to join our Professional Engineering Consulting team. This role supports the design and engineering of civil and structural systems for energy, midstream, and petrochemical facilities. The Civil / Structural Engineer will be responsible for developing structural design solutions, performing engineering analyses, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

What You'll Do

Engineering & Design

  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel structures including equipment skids, platforms, pipe racks, and cable tray supports.
  • Design concrete structures such as foundations (deep and shallow), retaining walls, and equipment pads for static and rotating equipment.
  • Develop demolition plans, rebar schedules, material take-offs, and structural bills of material.
  • Interpret and apply structural design codes and standards to support safe and constructible facility designs.
  • Review process, piping, and electrical layouts to ensure structural designs align with overall facility requirements.

Deliverable & Project Support

  • Coordinate structural deliverables with project team members across all engineering disciplines.
  • Review and integrate company standards, regulatory requirements, and municipal codes into project designs.
  • Review site-specific geotechnical reports to support site development and foundation design.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of structural drawings, calculations, and technical documents.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, evaluate shop fabrication and third-party vendor drawings, and support field activities as needed.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • 10+ yrs of total exp; 3+ years of direct civil/structural engineering experience supporting midstream energy or petrochemical facilities
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required, preferably in the State of Texas
  • Working knowledge of steel and concrete structural design for industrial facilities
  • Experience using structural analysis and design software such as SAP, SAFE, and L-Pile
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience applying applicable codes and standards including:
    • ACI 318, ASCE 7
    • AISC, IBC, OSHA
    • API 650, API 653, API RP 2350
    • NFPA 30
    • ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8
    • Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, 40 CFR 112, 40 CFR 264
  • Experience with Plant 3D Structure or CADWorx, preferred
  • Construction or field experience, preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
