Job description

McCormick Taylor is seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineer (Structural Engineer III) with a minimum of 7 years of bridge design experience to join our Philadelphia, PA office. The primary duties of the Structural Engineer III are to perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations for various transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and DOT (PennDOT, NJDOT, DelDOT, etc) specifications and standards. They would also be responsible for working with and mentoring younger staff.

Qualified candidates should have a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to bridge design; geotechnical/foundation design, substructure design, superstructure design, and retaining and noise walls. Performing complex structural planning analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects Perform detailed structural calculations in support of design and rehabilitation for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls Develop structural drawings, construction details and geometry layouts Prepare quantities and engineering cost estimates Provide internal quality control to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) as necessary Mentor junior staff and coordinate structural work with our project disciplines Work will be in a hybrid in-office/work-from-home environment, with some field work and travel required Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience on transportation projects B.S. or M.S

Licensure required Experience in all aspects of bridge design and bridge rehabilitation Experience in load rating Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software including a thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and DOT ((PennDOT, NJDOT, DelDOT, etc) design and construction specifications/standards.
