Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Structural Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the cooling tower and industrial construction industry. This role is responsible for the design, analysis, evaluation, and engineering support of structural systems associated with cooling towers and related industrial equipment.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in industrial structural engineering, including steel and concrete systems, structural analysis, retrofit design, and field support activities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective structural solutions for new construction, repairs, retrofits, upgrades, and field installations across industrial and power generation environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a structural engineer who enjoys combining office-based engineering design work with hands-on field exposure in complex industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design & Engineering Analysis

  • Design and analyze structural systems and components for:

    • Cooling towers

    • Industrial equipment support structures

    • Heavy industrial facilities

  • Perform structural calculations for:

    • Wind loads

    • Seismic loads

    • Dead loads

    • Live loads

    • Operational and dynamic loads

  • Develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural engineering solutions

  • Evaluate structural integrity and performance of existing cooling tower systems and industrial structures

Engineering Documentation & Technical Deliverables

  • Prepare:

    • Structural calculations

    • Engineering drawings

    • Technical specifications

    • Engineering reports

  • Review and approve:

    • Shop drawings

    • Fabrication drawings

    • Technical submittals

  • Ensure all engineering documentation complies with applicable engineering standards and codes

Project Coordination & Cross-Functional Support

  • Coordinate closely with:

    • Mechanical engineers

    • Project managers

    • Estimators

    • Fabrication teams

    • Field personnel

  • Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities related to structural engineering work

  • Participate in technical meetings with clients and project stakeholders

  • Provide engineering support throughout fabrication, installation, and field erection phases

Field Engineering & Site Support

  • Conduct field inspections and structural condition assessments

  • Evaluate existing structures for:

    • Repairs

    • Retrofits

    • Upgrades

    • Replacement recommendations

  • Support construction and field installation teams with technical guidance and problem-solving

  • Visit industrial facilities, power plants, manufacturing sites, and cooling tower installations as required

Compliance & Engineering Standards

  • Ensure designs comply with:

    • AISC standards

    • IBC requirements

    • OSHA regulations

    • Applicable industry codes and standards

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for engineering standards, procedures, and workflows

Required Qualifications

Education

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of structural engineering experience preferred
