Job description

This is a hands on/Lead position that involves a mix of engineering analysis, structural design, drafting coordination, and client-facing business development activities.


The hired candidate will have the chance to continue structural work while advancing a customer base and building a SE team!


The ideal candidate will be technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting both project delivery and new project opportunities.


The Structural Engineer will work closely with project managers, designers, and clients to deliver high-quality structural engineering solutions for a variety of projects.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Perform structural analysis and design for commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects.
  • Develop structural calculations, reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Prepare and review structural drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction phases.

Drafting & Technical Coordination

  • Assist with or perform structural drafting using CAD/BIM software.
  • Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
  • Review and mark up drawings prepared by designers and technicians.
  • Maintain project documentation and design records.

Project Support

  • Support project managers with technical input and project execution.
  • Participate in site visits, field evaluations, and structural assessments.
  • Assist with construction administration services when required.
  • Provide engineering guidance to internal teams.

Business Development

  • Support business development activities including proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Identify new project opportunities and assist with expanding service offerings.
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.


Qualifications

Required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Pennsylvania and Maryland (or ability to obtain reciprocity quickly).
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5โ€“10 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience performing structural calculations and design for building structures.
  • Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with structural assessment, renovations, or retrofits.
  • Experience working directly with clients and supporting proposal development.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or designers.
