Job description

STV is seeking Structural (Bridge) Engineering Specialistfor our Austin, TX office. Candidates will perform routine bridge design project work, prepare field notes and reports, assist with bridge assessments, and repair options, and provide support in production of bridge designs and plans.The responsibilities will have a mix of field and office work.Applicant must possess strong technical skills, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to travel for projects as needed, and be able to work with a team.

  • Familiar with AASHTO, AISC and ACI design codes

  • Experience on Texas DOT projects

  • TxDOT design manuals and standards,

  • CAD packages like Open Bridge Modeler, MicroStation and ORD.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Perform structural engineering calculations and calculate load ratings.

  • Prepare and/or check design calculations for new and existing bridges, retaining walls, culverts and other structures related to transportation.

  • Assist with preparation of construction documents, including drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinate with project manager on schedule and activities.

Preferred Skills/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

  • FHWA-NHI Certification 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Understanding of structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and pre-stressed concrete.

  • Use and understanding of structural analysis and design software, such as Open Bridge Designer, LARSA, Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, and STAAD.

Compensation Range:

$75,656.68 - $86,464.77
