Job description

Qualifications
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design
• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
• Basic understanding of Microstation and any other relevant design software
• Knowledge of calculations performed by software
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
• Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work
Responsibilities
• The Structural EIT will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs of structural engineering projects such as bridges and other transportation structures
• Use knowledge of general concepts of structural engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects such as bridges and tunnels.
• Perform basic calculations to analyze and design structural system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
• Assist team in preparing structural designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions
• Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices
• Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer
• Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications
• Perform field work related to construction related activities as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff
