ASAPThe Palmerton Area School District is seeking substitute cafeteria workers for the 2024-2025 school year. Hourly rate is $13/hour.
Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest, current clearances, and an application.
Position Summary:
To perform the routine duties involved in the preparation and serving of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered

Skills/Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of food preparation
  • Working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
  • Ability to follow food sanitation procedures
  • Ability to learn prescribed food preparation methods and school cafeteria operations
  • Ability to retrieve necessary menu items and recipe ingredients
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Ability to follow a set schedule
  • Ability to be flexible while demonstrating patience and professional demeanor
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, visitors, and administrators

  • Setting up serving areas
  • Serve lunch
  • Cleaning of serving areas
  • Clean and sanitize lunch tables between lunches

  • Sanitize and clean prep areas and food equipment

  • Stock milk coolers, other beverage, and merchandise areas
  • Slice deli meats for hoagies and salads
  • Cold food preparation
  • Replenish and fill condiment containers
  • Bake cookies and special desserts as needed
  • Prepare pizza, stromboli, and calzones
  • Cashier duties
