ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Health Services Department: Laboratory

SUPERVISOR: Laboratory Coordinator

FLSA: Non- Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $23.84- $40.71 

ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS:     In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.  


CPN Health Services personnel may be assigned to provide services to patients of all ages including but not limited to Indian Children and will require a criminal history background screening.


JOB SUMMARY: This position serves as a Medical Laboratory Technician, full time or part time, performing a full range of clinical laboratory tests to assist the medical staff in assessing, diagnosing and treating disease or impairment of health of patients utilizing the services of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Health Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Serves as testing personnel in the clinical laboratory with responsibilities dictated by the CLIA regulatory requirements as follows:

o Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results

o Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples

o Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all qc activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed

o Follows the laboratories established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within established guidelines

o Is capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problem or immediately report the problem to the technical consultant

o Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications

Accessions and labels specimens for testing in an accurate and efficient manner.

Evaluates and process specimens received for analysis to ensure adequate specimen integrity.

Performs and reports requested analyses in an efficient and timely manner

Notifies providers of critical values; documents that notification

Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshoots instrument failures to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Provides phlebotomy support as needed.

Actively participates in the laboratory's quality control/quality assurance activities.

Participates as an active member of the laboratory staff to improve the overall operation and efficiency of the laboratory; promotes teamwork and excellence among co-workers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: 

Perform other duties and projects as required by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

The ability to remain standing for prolonged periods of time. 

The ability to bend, stretch, and lift 25 pounds. 

The ability to work in a high stress environment. 

 Meet all health care immunization requirements.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: 

General clinical environment with exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and body fluids.
