# Street SuperintendentCity of Ballwin - BALLWIN, MO 63011## OverviewSalary Range$81,702.40 SalaryPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayEducation Level2 Year DegreeCategoryGovernment## Description**JOB SUMMARY:**This position is responsible for the supervision and administration of all field operations, street maintenance and construction inspection program. Issues permit and enforces City ordinance pertaining to Public Works. Works under the general direction of the Director of Public Works. Exercises direct supervision over the Public Works personnel .**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Plans, performs and coordinates activities related to street maintenance and capital improvement projects, utility company coordination and special projects.* Responsible for the contract administration, preparation of bid specifications and documents as needed, and construction inspection of work done for the City by contractors.* Work closely with contractors, utilities companies, and residents during construction of capital improvement projects.* Performs construction inspections of City capital improvement projects and private site development projects.* Responsible for the snow removal operations.* Oversees the street, sidewalk and fleet maintenance programs* Assists DPW with preparation of annual budget.* Monitors actual expenditures charged against each budget classification throughout the fiscal year.* Submits reports on an ongoing basis regarding the status of activities.* Assists in the formulation of departmental policy and development of a long-range action plan for the City.* Assists with coordination of work with other agencies.* Attends various city meetings as required.* Meets with residents to identify and correct Public Works related problems within the City.* Assists with response during emergencies.* Performs all other related duties as assigned.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:*** Knowledge of management and administrative skills.* Ability to manage and provide direction and assistance to departmental personnel with respect to technical evaluation of problems and contacts between employees and the public.* Working knowledge of departmental budgeting including preparation and cost control.* Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.* Knowledge of maintenance and construction practices, and inspection methods.* Working knowledge of laws and regulatory codes applicable to design and construction of public works projects. Ability to use Window-based word-processing, spreadsheet and data base applications.## Qualifications**EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:*** Associates degree in engineering, technology or construction management or practical work knowledge and proven competency related to the occupational field preferred.* 10 years of experience in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field as a supervisor preferred.* Valid drivers license.* Valid CDL required within 6 months of hire, preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
