Overview

William Charles Electric, a MasTec Company, is hiring for a Transportation Estimator, specializing in electrical services in the DOT, municipal, and industrial sector to include street lighting, traffic signals, ITS, substations, distribution, and Port of Entry upgrades.  The Estimator will work with a team to complete the due diligence necessary to estimate the cost of work associated with electrical construction projects. The Estimator will also oversee the client bid submittal process.

This position will be based in our Scottsdale, AZ office.

Occasional travel for client required site walks.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for assigned projects
    • Complete pre-construction survey and other preliminary documents
    • Perform majority of quantity surveys and pricing estimates
    • Complete general conditions
    • Prepare vendor proposal comparison and estimate summary sheets
    • Conduct plan review
    • Obtain applicable wage rates
    • Coordinate with others the completion of the proposal
    • Develop and complete project schedule template
  • Review and understand contract specifications, documents & drawings to preform takeoff’s accurately
  • Critically analyze each aspect of the estimate to ensure a competitive bid
  • Stay apprised of industry standard software including researching and reviewing new technologies to expedite the takeoff process
  • Occasional project site visits and pre-bid meeting attendance
  • Special projects as necessary
  • Assist with other estimating duties as assigned 

Qualifications
  • Electrical experience in the above listed areas or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prior experience in renewable construction industry preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years prior estimating experience preferred
  • Experience with estimating software. B2W preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of software
  • Experience with BlueBeam
