What is a streaming job?

Streaming jobs refer to roles that involve the distribution and delivery of digital media content, such as video or audio, over the internet in real time. These jobs can include positions like content creators, live stream producers, streaming engineers, and platform moderators. Streaming professionals work with platforms like Twitch, YouTube, or Netflix to ensure smooth content delivery, engage audiences, manage broadcasts, and troubleshoot technical issues. Their responsibilities may also include optimizing video quality, managing live chats, and ensuring compliance with platform guidelines.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a streaming content creator?

To thrive as a Streaming Content Creator, you need strong on-camera presence, content creation skills, and a deep understanding of your target audience, often supported by experience or knowledge in media production or digital marketing. Familiarity with streaming platforms like Twitch or YouTube Live, video editing software, and broadcasting tools such as OBS Studio is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help you engage with viewers and build a loyal community. These abilities are crucial for attracting and retaining audiences, maintaining high-quality streams, and achieving growth in a competitive digital landscape.

What are common challenges faced by streaming professionals when collaborating with technical and creative teams?

Streaming professionals often work at the intersection of technical and creative teams, which can present unique challenges. Coordinating live broadcasts or content releases requires clear communication to ensure technical requirements and creative vision align. Differences in timelines, priorities, or understanding of technical constraints can lead to misunderstandings, so successful streamers need strong collaboration and project management skills. Regular meetings and using shared project tools can help bridge gaps and keep everyone on the same page.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, thrives on meeting new people, enjoys discovering what's new around Connecticut, and is energized by creating content that connects with audiences. Whether highlighting a local business, covering a community event, showcasing a hidden gem, or bringing a sponsor's story to life through authentic branded content, you'll bring creativity, collaboration, and a multiplatform mindset to every assignment.

Working alongside the Executive Producer, CT Live host, Commercial Producer and creative team, you'll pitch original ideas, shoot, write, edit, and produce compelling content that engages audiences, strengthens the CT Live brand, and helps bring innovative sponsorships and community partnerships to life through authentic storytelling.

Job Duties

  • Develop original content that expands the CT Live brand while supporting audience growth, engagement, and sponsorship opportunities across every platform.

  • Research, shoot, write, edit, and produce premium lifestyle stories featuring Connecticut's people, businesses, entertainment, food, travel, nonprofits, and community.

  • Develop social-first storytelling that complements broadcast content while also creating original digital-exclusive series and sponsored campaigns.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer to identify content opportunities that maximize value across linear, streaming, digital, and social platforms.

  • Produce content that supports integrated sponsorships and branded partnerships while maintaining NBCUniversal's editorial standards.

  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Creative Services, and Digital teams to execute multiplatform campaigns that deliver measurable value for advertisers and audiences.

  • Create platform-specific content optimized for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, streaming, and NBCConnecticut.com.

  • Analyze audience engagement, platform performance, and emerging digital trends to continuously improve storytelling strategies.

  • Build relationships with community organizations, tourism partners, businesses, nonprofits, creators, and influencers to develop unique content opportunities.

  • Produce evergreen content that can be repurposed across multiple distribution platforms and marketing initiatives.

  • Represent CT Live at community events, sponsored activations, and station initiatives through live and recorded content.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Media Production, Digital Media, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of one experience as a Multimedia Journalist, Content Creator, Digital Producer, Lifestyle Producer, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, shooting, editing, and producing professional-quality video content.
  • Experience creating content across multiple platforms, including broadcast television, streaming, websites, digital publishing, and social media.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, or comparable non-linear editing software.
  • Experience using mobile production tools and digital publishing platforms.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout Connecticut.

Additional Requirements

  • Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through nbcunicareers.com to be considered.
  • Portfolio, demo reel, or links showcasing recent multiplatform content.
  • Three to five examples demonstrating storytelling, content creation, video production, and digital innovation.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCUniversal's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
  • Must become a member of SAG-AFTRA.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and community events as business needs require.
  • This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating digital-first, social-first, or multiplatform lifestyle content that extends beyond traditional television.
  • Strong understanding of audience behavior across broadcast, streaming, digital, social media, and emerging platforms.
  • Experience developing branded content, sponsored storytelling, or advertiser-supported campaigns while maintaining editorial integrity.
